Daily Prayer Points

Pray with R for more workers for the gospel harvest in Eurasia. Thank God with J and P for a good start to the new academic year. Pray for J as he continues to settle into his workplace and build relationships with staff and students. Pray for P as she works to learn the names of her 150 students and their respective teachers. Pray with J and S for their son to settle well at preschool, to learn language and to make friends. Praise the Lord with S and D for a good start to their first Home Assignment. 

Pray with J for the churches in her location which tend toward legalism, that they would discover afresh the grace of the gospel and faithfully proclaim its truth. Give thanks with S and M for extended time with people during the slow summer months. Pray for spiritual fruit and growth for themselves and those around them. Pray with Dan and Marg for discernment for Marg as she considers which ministries to be involved in this year. Pray with Gavin and Megan Rosser for a month of ‘starting’: people at church, Bible study groups, learning about Christ, and committing to Christ. Pray with Derk and Susan for believing students to be bold in living out their faith. Pray with L for the CMS VIC Young Adults Prayer and Pancakes on 21 September, that many would be stirred to cross cultural service in Australia and the Middle East. Pray for wisdom in which ministry opportunities to pursue. Pray with M for wisdom to help churches be more involved in global mission, and to encourage them to care for overlooked churches in certain countries. 

Pray with B that God would be glorified and his people encouraged as she meets with churches, small groups and individuals during her Home Assignment. Pray with C for teammates R and H and their four kids, as they prepare for the arrival of their baby this month. Pray with J as the team gets back into regular visiting this month. Pray for new fruit as people hear God’s Word and encounter Jesus, and for husbands and wives to come to faith together. Pray with M for a good transition after Home Assignment, and for her to have wisdom and know God’s leading in this new season back on location. Pray with W and S for the local church they serve alongside. Thank God for the many ways they serve the refugees in their city. Pray for continued favour with local authorities, and for wisdom and integrity for those in leadership. Pray with S and P as they return from Australia, look for a new home and organise a conference for believers in the region. 

Pray with Morgan and Olivia for their church’s youth, tweens, and children’s groups as they begin for the school year this month. Pray for new kids in the groups and new leaders who are serving and being trained. Pray with Elizabeth for some good time off after the last three months of intensive language learning. Pray with John and Deb for a good launch of Small Groups this year and for the new Small Groups Director. Give thanks with Craig and Lisse for an encouraging start to the ministry year after the summer. Pray for ongoing training for those serving in children’s and tweens ministry during first term. Pray with Ray and Sandy for wisdom to lead their church and face the unique challenges of living and serving in their location. Ask God to open the hearts of the 200 nations that are living there. 

NSW & ACT: Give thanks for all who came to events in Canberra and the Southern Highlands. Pray for Summer School 2025 as registration opens and plans develop for the week’s programs. 

QNNSW: Give thanks for the long-term ministry of Bruce and Libby in Pokhara, Nepal as they prepare to finish their missionary service with CMS. Pray for good farewells, the provision of a teacher to replace Libby, and a smooth transition as they return to Australia in November.  

SANT: Pray for our growing number of inquirers and the work of our Mobilisation Lead, Tamie Davis. Ask that God would raise up more missionaries in our branch and send them where he wants them. 

TAS: Pray for good registration numbers for Spur: Global Mission Conference in January, and for Events Director Andrew Maskell. Ask that Spur will continue to connect CMS with new churches and supporters each year, while encouraging current partner churches and their members. 

VIC: Pray for the Missionary Accommodation Project, that CMS supporters would be generous in caring for our missionaries. Pray for the VIC team as they look at various options for purchasing housing. 

WA: Pray that CMS WA would put strategies in place to engage the next generation in mission. 

Thank God with David and Cathie Sandifer that he cares for their health, and for the many ministry opportunities he provides. Pray with Co-Mission Partner Jotham Booker for continued theological unity amongst the church leadership team. Thank God with Klaus and Jude Hickel for the first two Sundays of their church plant, Christ Church Markkleeberg. Pray they would fix their eyes on Jesus in all things. 

Pray with Simon and Jessica Cowell for their four children commencing the new school year. Pray also for GBU as they begin a new academic year, and welcome a new staff trainee. Pray with Co-Mission Partner (CoMP) Andrea (and Geanne) Becciolini for new Christian uni students to join GBU who are keen to grow in Christ and share the gospel. Pray also for their son Benjamin as he starts at crèche. Pray with Jason and Hannah Fairclough for a good start to the year for GBU Florence while the family adjusts to a new baby. Pray that God will provide keen and involved Christian students. Pray with Gillian Law for short-term worker Zach, who is moving from the UK to serve with GBU. Pray that he will settle in and work well with the team, and have a fruitful year of training and ministry. Thank God with CoMPs Bostjan and Lidija Cifer for Lydia, the general secretary of the student movement, and pray that he will guide her in this leadership role. Pray with CoMP Manuel Ardolino as he takes on more responsibilities with Tor Vergata University–that he will work wisely and well with GBU student coordinators. 

Pray with Jim and Tanja French for good organisation and wise routines for their children and MOCLAM students as they begin the new academic year. Thank God with Lauren Raiter that she has her visa, and is now settling back into life and routine in Madrid. Pray with Miriam Bradshaw for those who have recently arrived in Spain and will come to Misión urbana for help, that they will be well cared for, and that the team can explain the reason for their gospel hope. Thank God with Chris and Kristy Galea for reconnections, beautiful generosity, family, and friendship on Home Assignment. Pray that the Lord would strengthen them as they prepare to return to Malta. 

Pray with Karina Brabham that as the new university year begins, GBU will make contact with students open to reading the Bible. Pray with Colin and Catherine Puffett, now back from Australia, for a good start to the new school year and re-entry into church life. Pray with Josh and Susannah Apieczonek for GBU leaders to be bold in welcoming new students, and for lots of good connections during orientation weeks. Pray with Gillian Akers that God will provide regular ways to serve in church and connect with the community. Pray with Michael and Rani Grivas-Allison that God would give them courage, love and joy as they ‘step up’ their French to a new language level, including at church camp and GBU staff meetings. Praise God with Howard and Patricia Spencer for a new French-speaking GBU staff member, Lèon Li. Pray for his ongoing financial support, and ask that he will adjust to his new role quickly. Pray with Emma Payne for strength in a time of transition. 

Thank God with Marty and Jenny Foord for a good start to the new semester. Pray they will be gracious, wise, and efficient in preparing lectures, sermons and workshops. Pray with Christopher and Julie Dean for Timorese people anticipating the Pope’s visit next week. Pray for evangelical believers to engage graciously in conversations with others. Thank God with Chris and Grace Adams for providing an illustrator for some of their gospel publications. Praise God with Malcolm and Leanne for their Bible College as it celebrates 12 years of operation. Pray that it will continue to stick to its core values and mission. Pray with Taulama Siuhengalu for wise distribution of time and energy when preparing lessons for his students, whilst doing language study himself. Pray with Co-Mission Partner T (and N) for wisdom to see and take up gospel opportunities. 

Pray with Nick and Rebekah for Nick to prepare well for his national language exam. Give thanks with Rowan for an encouraging time with his pastoral visitor last month. Give thanks with Andrew Buchanan and Abi Tandiseru for a good start to deputation and the world-wide fellowship. Pray with Chris and Erin for healing for Erin’s grandfather, who is battling stage 4 cancer. 

Pray with Julie for courage as she steps onto a new campus this month, that she may live for Jesus as she makes new connections. Give thanks with Jon and Deborah for the 31 new first-year students at the Bible college. Pray that they will grow in love for God, for each other, and for the world as they spend the next four years studying. Pray with Rebekah for her and her students to have a solid foundation in God’s Word and wise insight into its application. Pray with Josh and Nici for Josh as he starts teaching full-time at the Bible college. 

Pray with K for a young, engaged couple—a local woman of the majority faith and a US expat, who may be a believer himself. Pray that God would be at work in their hearts and relationship. Pray with N that God will provide a suitable place to rent for their language centre, which needs to move to new premises in October. Praise God with J for the faithful support of many in CMS WA during Home Assignment. Pray with I for an existing English conversation class in her location to change into a Bible study. Praise God that participants are interested in studying the Bible. Pray with L and C for growing relationships for their family at church. 

Pray with Tim and Olivia Mulherin and their children for perseverance in Khmer language learning and opportunities to practise. Pray with Jeremy and Jill Horrocks that Phnom Penh Bible School students will continue their studies with enthusiasm. Pray that Christian teachers will consider serving the Lord at HOPE International School. Pray with Maurice and Amanda Jacobson as the new school year at Elim Bible College begins on Tuesday–that the students would settle quickly, and that the staff would share the gospel and their lives with students. 

Thank God for the generosity and prayers of the CMS Fellowship and ask that God will continue to use them to support work in many locations. Pray for missionaries who have recently completed their CMS service, that they would be used by God in their next ministries. 

Thank God for those around the world that CMS is assisting in their studies through the Mission Support Fund. Ask that recipients will know God’s grace and be equipped to serve his people. 

Thank God with Daniel and Olivia Webster for the visit of Dan’s parents. Pray that it would be a blessed time as they travel together. Thank God with Kylie Zietsch for some times of good rest and study. Pray for students at JBC as they begin their preaching, Bible study, and counselling practicals, that they might put into practice all they have learnt. Pray with Nathan and Diane Lovell for the Evangelical Research Fellowship at GWC: that the postgraduate students and visiting scholars would produce materials that will benefit the African Church. Thank God with Mike and Karen Roe for blessed ministry opportunities in recent years. Pray for their move to Australia in September to go smoothly and well. Pray with Co-Mission Partner Thulisile (and Thato) Mabe as they continue to parent Nala, Maru and Marang.  

Pray with Brenton and Mel Kilby that God would help the family develop a rhythm of life in Morogoro as they learn Swahili and culture. Pray with Mike and Katie Taylor that God might bring a good number of new students to Munguishi Bible College. Pray for students who know the gospel and genuinely love Jesus. Pray with Michael and Jean Burke for progress with visa applications. Pray for Jean’s safe travel to Sydney for health checks, and for Michael going to Uganda in early September for a medical course. Pray with David and Jenny Juniper for Langham Preaching seminars coming up soon: that presenters would deliver clear and helpful material, and recipients would develop skills in preaching the Bible. 

Thank the Lord with Andrew and Margaret Newman for the joy of welcoming a new cohort of students. Pray that the students will find a compelling Christlikeness in the staff. Thank God with Ryan and Lynne Verghese for holidays! Pray that they can rest well and enjoy time with wider family. Pray with Adam and Avril Friend for a blessed time with visiting family. 

Pray with M for preparation for an upcoming teacher training course: that Jesus will be glorified through the way they interact, and that they’d have opportunities to share the gospel. Pray with Anna Radkovic for friends M and M, that they would come to faith. Thank God with Anthony and Trudi Elyard for their recent commissioning service and pray as they now pack their bags, manage logistics and spend time with family and friends. Praise God with Co-Mission Partners Anwar Berhe and Tsigereda Atankir for many opportunities to speak the gospel to little children. 

Pray with Malcolm and Ainsley Purdey, and Chris and Stef Overhall, that the upcoming CEP intensive (from 9—13 September with Rhys Bezzant from Ridley College) would be encouraging and instructive for the students, and that many pastors would also be able to attend. Give thanks with Frances Cook as she visits England, enabled by an incredible gift from the Chilean Church. Pray for much learning, and happy reunions with old colleagues. Pray with Co-Mission Partner (CoMP) Álex (and Karina) Córdova Morales for daily growth in the fruit of the Spirit. Pray with CoMPs Andrés and Annika Ruiz Caro that Andrés will lecture faithfully and clearly at CEP, as they continue to settle into Santiago. Thank God with Adrian and Anita Lovell for their church. Pray that God would bless their pastors in their desire to better apply his Word in the light of Christ’s saving work. 

Pray with Martin and Julie Field for the students of Año Puente in second semester—especially for their growth in Christian character and service. Give thanks with Amy Stephens for a refreshing break. Pray for a great start to the second semester, including campus Bible groups. Pray with Peter and Terry Blowes for God’s name to be honoured this week in Cordoba through their contribution to the Año Puente program with the Fields. Thank God with Pedro and Joy Oliveira Woolmer for the opportunity for Pedro to speak at Chile’s national leader’s training camp (6—8 September). Pray that he would teach clearly and faithfully from 1, 2, and 3 John. Thank God with Nick and Kysha Davies for the opportunity to teach a Bible overview at a regional IFES training event. Pray with Co-Mission Partners Bryan and Sarah Haro Leon for Sarah, that her women’s Bible study would be able to meet consistently despite the demands of life. 

Give thanks with Matt and Ellen Tyler for language learning so far. Pray for diligence and clarity in their upcoming language test, and for good health during a month-long village stay in September. Pray with Joel and Tiffanie Atwood for good follow-up with people who read John’s Gospel in their ‘Who is Jesus?’ mission. Praise God for three church plants in remote villages, being looked after by the Atwoods’ church. Pray with Keith and Marion Birchley that they will seek the Lord’s help as they navigate leaving PNG in November. Thank God with David Pettett that after a busy start, August has been quieter. Pray for third-year students preparing their exit theses. Pray that God will provide new staff after an unexpected resignation. Give thanks with Bill and Linda Colyer for upcoming deputation visits to Acacia Ridge and Gympie Presbyterian Churches. 

Pray with Ian and Jenny Wood that God would help them be ready for teaching: the fifth block of the year for Jenny, and a new subject for Ian. Pray for their students, that they would take what they learn and use it in their own communities. Give thanks with Derek and Rosemary Snibson for time spent in August in Ngukurr and nearby communities. Pray that God would encourage church members there in life and ministry. Pray with Simon and Claire Koefoed for son Toby’s health and persistence in the last months of Year 12. Pray for a new Dean of Anglican Students for Nungalinya College in 2025. Pray with Co-Mission Partners James (and Miriam) Woods, Marlene Andrews and Mandy Manggurra for daily opportunities to speak of Christ. 

Pray with Chris and Karen Webb for the revival of the church in the community of Noonkanbah (a previously strong church that now battles to have regular gatherings). Give thanks with Matt and Lisa Pearson for clear and present words for the living, recently shared at a graveside during a funeral. Pray with Josh and Steph Mackenzie as they start winding things up before Home Assignment; that people would understand why they have to leave temporarily, and be supportive. Thank God with Geoff and Hannah Harper for a recent opportunity to spend a week at St Andrew’s Hall doing intensive training. Pray that insights learned would be used for God’s kingdom. Pray with Samuel and Bec Gorfine for good conversations as they speak at partner churches, and that more might be encouraged to ‘pray’ and ‘go’. Thank God with Maggie Crewes that she is back in SA and church partnership visits have begun. Pray that as she communicates the big change from Africa/Asia to NT, that supporters would quickly catch the vision and opportunities available. 

SAH: Thank God for the St Andrew’s Hall team, delivering an ‘intensive’ session to church and ministry leaders in August. Pray that they would have time to refresh and review the St Andrew’s Hall course in the second half of this year. 

Mentac: Please pray for the Lord’s guidance for several people who are considering training with Mentac in 2025. 

Across Cultures: Pray for planning for the Across Cultures Training Days for 2025: that God would direct us towards great speakers and helpful content in the areas of World Religions, Prayer, and Cultural Awareness. 

Pray with D and T in an environment of official suspicion of foreigners, that T may have more opportunities for service. Pray with L for visiting link churches visits, that it will be of mutual encouragement. Please also pray for her discipline in rest, and time alone with the Lord. Pray with Sam and Shan-Shan Chrisp that as the academic year starts, they can connect with new first-year students. Pray with Lachlan and Candy Grice that they would have opportunities to speak of Jesus with their neighbours while on Home Assignment. 

Pray with Kellie Nicholas, Chenny Thie, and Dene and Rachel Hughes for the KGK Summer Camp ‘One for All’ next week, that non-Christian students attending will come to recognise that Jesus’ death was for them. Pray also for God’s blessing and protection on the ‘Challenge Camp’ (27-31 August). Pray with Elle Bryce for a profitable time at a missionary conference in Karuizawa, and her contact afterwards with a non-Christian friend. 

Pray with Matt and Bex Ooi for God’s sustaining strength and spiritual refreshment through summer, as Matt balances ministry commitments and language learning. Pray with Dave and Beck McIntyre as Alyssa and Natasha start a new school year, remembering also the many kids who find it difficult to return to school after the holidays. Pray with Steven and Sandra Parsons for freshness and inspiration as summer holidays come to an end, and ministries gear up to start again after a break. Pray with Adam and Helane Ramsay for rest and refreshment for their family once summer camps and sermons are over. Pray with Nathan and Maki Clapham as they begin a cafe this month to help build relationships in the local community.
