Relationships emerged as a recurring theme at CMS Victoria’s Summer Under the Son.
Peter Adam, retiring principal of Ridley College, in his studies on the book of Esther challenged us to trust God, whether we feel God is in control or not. Esther’s relationship with God led her to risk her life to save her people. Even if life seems out of your control, look for opportunities to serve God.
Every missionary pointed out that being with people, and developing relationships with them, is far more important than what you do. If those watching you can see the love of Christ lived out in your life, they will be attracted to the Christ whom you serve.
Lindsay Brown, International Director of Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization told of people, including many of other faiths, coming to Christ after experiencing the love and care of Christians.
Bishop Mouneer in speaking about how to reach Muslims with the Gospel cited a study which revealed that for many, what brought them to Christ was the love that Christians exhibited in their relationships, and their treatment of women as equals.
The relationships that people develop with others at the Conference, including the missionaries, the relationships between the leaders of the children’s, youth and young adult ministries and those attending their sessions, all have a lasting impact, and are a major reason why so many people make SUTS a priority.
