SUMMER ENCOUNTER 2010
As I drove to work this morning, the sign on the Christadelphian church announced: “Public Bible Address – What the Bible has to say about the REAL devil”. Of course, if Jesus is not the Son of God, then the devil is a scary topic. But Jesus is the Son of God, and he is our Saviour. It was the REAL Jesus who was proclaimed from the platform at CMS-SA/NT’s Summer Encounter from 14 to 17 January.
This year we had over 300 people attend and soak up the teachings of Dennis Tongoi from Kenya and Andrew Reid (who spoke on 1 Samuel). We learnt that the Western world is shrinking as materialism takes hold, but that many nations are populating and coming to our shores. God is moving people globally for the sake of his kingdom. His agenda is the nations, and our lives are to be a blessing to the nations. Dennis’s creed is Colossians 1:15-20: … all things were created by Him [God’s dear son Jesus] and for Him (verse 16). The emphasis was on ALL.
Our children and youth had a great time, with growing numbers in both groups, and there seems to be an unstoppable momentum to Summer Encounter now as God blesses us with a unique time of fellowship for all ages.
