CMS is passionate about sending the gospel out into all the world and dedicated to finding, training and supporting people for that task.

Below you’ll find brief introductions to the process of becoming a missionary with CMS, whether that’s long-term, short-term, as a student elective placement or just an unformed idea in your head. There are also answers available to some frequently asked questions about missionaries and pastoral care with CMS.

Long-term mission

Serving long-term with CMS usually means two or more tours of three to four years. Most locations require missionaries to invest in language and culture acquisition for at least the first 12 months.

Short-term mission

CMS is happy to send people to work short-term in situations where they can support the ministries of long-term missionaries and fill specific roles where their vocations and gifts are greatly needed.

Student elective trips

If your university course involves an elective term, CMS may be able to help you organise a placement overseas as a Student Elective Overseas (SEO).
