…love is as strong as death…its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the LORD
Song of Songs 8:6
CMS Summer School is a Christian missionary conference with a Bible teacher, International speaker and CMS missionaries presenting talks and electives over five days. Worship and prayer are also a part of our daily inspirational program. Our children & youth program not only keeps school age children happy and busy, but it gives them valuable bible teaching too. Set in a stunningly beautiful location, on Mount Tamborine, with warm sun, gentle breezes or cooling rain, you could not ask for a better start to the year!
Come for the day, the weekend or the whole five days. Carry on scrolling to find out more about the speakers and missionaries, accommodation and food options and then make your booking.
Please note that bookings for accommodation & food closed on Friday 7th December, we can only take bookings for day visitors.
Simon Manchester is the senior minister at St Thomas’ North Sydney in NSW as well as Chaplain for a local rugby team; teacher and director at Cornhill Sydney; teacher on Christian Growth podcast and a popular conference speaker in Australia and the UK.
Simon will remind us of God’s pursuing love from the book Song of Songs. God’s great love as it is reflected in the love between a man and a woman is the same love that inspires us to a share the gospel with the nations—a love that lives to see a world that knows Jesus.
Peter Thein Nyunt, a former Buddhist monk, now a Christian and the Head of Mission Studies and Postgraduate Studies at Myanmar Evangelical Graduate School of Theology.
He will challenge and inspire us with how God is reaching Buddhist people with the saving news of Jesus.
Our gospel workers at Summer School this year are Adam & Helane Ramsay serving in Japan. We will also have guest missionaries Martin & Julie Field serving in Argentina.
A more detailed program including missionary electives will be uploaded closer to the time.
The children and youth program is a fun-filled, Bible teaching program with a mission focus. It runs during the morning and evening sessions by trained volunteers who are keen to see young people know and live for Jesus. They will find out what it is like to live in a different culture and why cross-cultural mission is important. They will play games, learn from the Bible, sing, meet our gospel workers, pray and mix with other Christian kids and adults. Evening sessions are also fun – with messy-night being a firm favourite. New this year, Quiz Worx and their puppets will also be a part of the program.
Children are split into the following age ranges for the program (according to the school year they will be going into in 2019):-
Prep-Grade 1, Grades 2-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-9 & Grades 10-12. Creche for 0-2 year olds.
You must apply for places online and it is advisable to book early. Please note that many age groups are now full and there is a waiting list in operation.
Back by popular demand this year is the waterslide on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Parents can sit in the shade and watch the kids have fun. Young-at-heart adults are also welcome to join in!
Bookings for food & accommodation are now closed. You are welcome to come as a day visitor but you need to organise your own accommodation and food.
There are four different onsite accommodation venues to choose from. Entire rooms can be booked (which will incur an extra fee) otherwise you will be allocated to single-sex rooms. There is also a large range of accommodation in the local area, which you can arrange yourself.
You can book a powered or unpowered sites. Standard sites are 6m x 7m and *new this year* are oversized sites 6m x 9m, for the larger camping vehicles. There is a toilet and shower block and portaloos. You can cook your own meals or pre-book lunch and/or dinner. There is no camp kitchen, so please bring all your own kitchen equipment and cooking utensils. If you want to camp next to a friend or as part of a church group, there will be the opportunity to select this as part of the booking. Although we cannot guarantee your request, we will try to allocate you with your friends or church group. Camp Site Map
CMS Centre is a short walk away from the main auditorium. It accommodates 80 guests in 13 rooms of either 5 or 8 people. Toilet and shower facilities are located in a separate block across the lawn area. All meals are included in the booking.
If needed, you can bring a small electric fan to use in CMS room.
*NEW* Reduced pricing for staying at CMS and there will be more accommodation available at CMS, as our Youth Leaders are being accommodated at the Tamborine Life Centre (TLC).
Camp Tamborine is a five minute walk to the auditorium. It accommodates up to 88 people, in rooms of either 4 beds or 8 beds, with shared toilet and shower facilities. The kitchen and dining area is well equipped with a water boiler, large gas range, cold room, freezer, food mixer, crockery and cutlery.
It is our only self-catered site so no meals are provided here. This makes it a flexible option as you can choose to eat out in the local area or book in for lunch &/ dinner.
Camp Panorama is opposite the main auditorium and provides comfortable accommodation for 54 people. There are shared shower and toilet facilities. There are also three cabins and an amenities block behind the main building. Access in and out of the cabins is via steps.
*NEW* All meals will be eaten at Camp Panorama and so are included in the booking.
Please note there are only a few single and double rooms and these are allocated on a first booked (fully paid) basis.
Follow these three steps to calculate your costs.
Decide how many days you wish to attend. The full time rate is for Friday afternoon to Wednesday midday. Part time rates are calculated depending on the day/s attending. All age brackets are calculated as of 2019.
|FULL TIME||SAT-TUE DAY RATE||FRI and WED DAY RATE|
|Pensioners (card holder)|
|Child Pre-Grade1 - Grade 12||$130||$26||$13|
|Child aged 3-4||$65||$13||$13|
|Child aged 0-2||Free|
|The family rate covers only two generations of one family.|
Example 1: Audrey is a pensioner who wants to attend Summer School on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Her registration costs would be $18.5 (Friday) + $37 (Saturday) + $37 (Sunday) = $92.5
Example 2: Nick and Caroline want to attend Summer School full time and bring their three school-aged children. Instead of paying $790 ($200 (Adult) + $200 (Adult) + $130 (Child Pre-Grade 1 – Grade 12) + $130 (Child Pre-Grade 1 – Grade 12) + $130 (Child Pre-Grade 1 – Grade 12)), they are eligible for the Family Rate and will only pay $700 for their entire family’s registration.
Next, decide if you are staying on-site or if you will organise your own off-site accommodation. If you are staying on-site, choose your preferred accommodation location. If you wish to book an entire room, you will have to pay an extra fee. Other than the full time rate, prices shown below are per person per night.
|Accommodation options - no meals provided||Adult||Child pre-grade 1 - grade 12||Child aged 0-4|
|Unpowered camping - no meals provided||$15||$7||Free|
|Powered camping - no meals provided||$17.5||$8||Free|
|Camp Tamborine - No meals provided (self catering option)||$20||Free|
|Accommodation options - meals included||Child grade 7 - adult||Child pre-grade 1 - grade 6||Child aged 0-4|
Example 1: Audrey wants to stay at Camp Tamborine on Friday and Saturday night and have a whole room to herself. Her accommodation costs would be $20 (Friday) + $20 (Saturday) + $100 (own room fee) = $140.
Example 2: Nick and Caroline with their three school-aged children want to have a whole room to themselves at WEC Centre for the entirety of the conference. Their costs would be $60 + $60 + $47 + $47 + $47 = $214 per night for 5 nights + $100 (own room fee) = $1170.
Finally, if you are staying at an uncatered site (camping and Camp Tamborine) or off-site, you need to pre-book any meals you wish to eat on-site.
If you are staying at WEC, CMS or Camp Panorama, meal prices are already included in your accommodation price.
Example 1: Audrey wants to have lunch on Saturday and dinner on Friday and Saturday. Her meal costs are $13 (lunch) + $17 (dinner) + $17 (dinner) = $47
Example 2: Nick and Caroline are staying at WEC Centre, so all their meals are paid for in their accommodation fee.

Summer School cannot operate without the support and service of approximately 150 volunteers and youth leaders. As part of the registration process people are able to select an area where they might like to help. All our volunteers are expected to agree to our ‘faithfulness in missionary service’ statement and after registration closes and rosters are put together, volunteers are contacted with further details.
