What you can expect from Mission Encounter 2020

2020 has opened a whole range of possibilities for Mission Encounter. While we’re sad we cannot meet in our usual way, we are very excited to see how God will use Mission Encounter in its virtual form.

Mission Encounter is a fantastic way for you to connect with God’s word, God’s mission and God’s world. For the first time you’ll be able to participate wherever you are. We’re looking forward to hearing from several of our missionaries as they share about what’s it been like in their locations. We’re also excited to welcome Wei-Han Kuan, State Director of CMS Victoria, as our Bible speaker.

Our missionaries

Gillian Law is a GBU staff worker in Rome, where she trains and equips Christian students, working alongside them to share the message of Jesus with other students.

K (with ML) is on his final home assignment after serving in South Asia. K taught mathematics at a local study centre and was involved with the local church.

Recently returned short-term workers I & R helped develop programs and support students at an international school in South Asia.

With videos from

Andrew and Margie Newman will be learning language and culture. They plan to build relationships with the people of the Diocese of North Kigezi, Uganda, before they start teaching at the Canon Ndimbirwe Bible College.

Simon and Jessica Cowell are GBU staff workers in Bari, where they model, equip and encourage evangelism amongst university students as they seek to share Jesus on campus

Bible speaker

Wei-Han Kuan is the State Director of CMS Victoria. He’s responsible for raising up new missionaries and the prayer, care and finances that support him. Wei-Han’s Bible talks will focus on ‘Great-grandmother’s of Jesus’.

Getting the most out of Mission Encounter

Links will be sent to you via email prior to Mission Encounter. While we can’t meet in person this year, you’re still able to meet with small groups of people in your home, if you would like. Who could you invite? If you choose to do this, please follow COVID-19 guidelines in your state (NSW,QLD).
