CMS Sunday is a fantastic way to encourage, educate and involve your church in cross-cultural missions.  

What could CMS Sunday look like in your church?  

You could dedicate a segment of your church service to sharing about your CMS missionary, or run an entire service focussed on cross-cultural mission. Below are some ideas and resources to help promote your link missionary and partnership with CMS.

Important note on secure workers: Please check your link missionary’s security guidelines. This will help you navigate how you can mention your link missionary during the service. If your church service is online or livestreamed publicly, please do not mention the details of your secure link missionary. Please refer to them by the first letter of their first name only (eg. M instead of Mila), refer only to their region, not specific location, and as CMS workers instead of missionaries.

If you run a service focused on mission

If you want to run a church service focussed on cross-cultural mission and your link missionaries, that’s great! Here are some suggestions for mission-focused elements you can include in it. 

 Prayer

In the week leading up to the service, get in touch with the service/ prayer leader and ask they pray for these particular areas:  

1. Your CMS link missionaries
   – Pray for their ministry
   – Continued language and culture learning
   – Perseverance and relationships
2. The country/region where your link missionaries are serving
   – People in their locations
   – Current affairs and opportunities in the region
   – You can find out more about regions where CMS missionaries are serving in the CMS Prayer Diary or the Joshua Project website
3. People in your church who could consider cross-cultural mission
   – Pray for your church and its heat for cross-cultural mission
   – Those in your congregation who are considering serving in cross-cultural mission
   – Pray for people to pray earnestly for cross-cultural mission and to consider financially supporting CMS missionaries

 Videos

You could ask your link missionaries to put together a video update to share with your church. Some secure missionaries are unable to send videos and others will be able to. If you have any questions about this contact the CMS QNNSW office.

If church members prefer not to give online, you may send them this giving and prayer response form which they can print and mail directly to CMS.
