Gospel Entitlement: 1 Corinthians 8-10

Christ has set us free! (Galatians 5:1) The question is: What will you do with your freedom? At Autumn Encounter 2018, we’ll be following Jesus and Paul into mission as we think more deeply about 1 Corinthians 8-10, led by Richard Gibson and Rick Lewers.

“Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible” (1 Corinthians 9:19).

Richard Gibson has more than 20 years’ experience teaching Greek, New Testament, church history and preaching. He recently published Reading Biblical Greek for first-year Greek students. Raised in a Christian family, it was at university that Richard realised the importance of Jesus and his gospel. After studying theology and being ordained as an Anglican minister, he pastored a congregation in Sydney’s west for four years. His greatest passions are his family, teaching the Bible, and caring for students. Richard and his wife Kim attend St Andrew’s Anglican Church in South Brisbane, where Richard sometimes preaches. In his spare time, Richard enjoys playing golf or tennis.

Rick Lewers is the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Armidale. Having completed theological studies, he was ordained in Sydney, worked at St Luke Liverpool before moving to St Matthew’s Wanniassa in Canberra. After 2002 he took up the role of evangelist with Evangelism Ministries in Sydney, and thereafter became the rector of Engadine Heathcote Anglican Church until his consecration in 2012. His passions are Jesus Christ, telling people about Him, his wife, Janene, their three children and spouses, their one grandchild and all things sporting, e.g. fishing, golf and watching those sports he no longer has the body to play.
