Country: Spain

Description

Youth Workers for Spain

Youth Work in the Anglican Church of Spain is a recognised need, according to the Bishop and leaders of the church. There is little youth work happening anywhere, and many realizable opportunities.

In Barcelona, with 1.6 million people and five universities, there is only one Anglican parish. The needs are great, while the resources are few.

In Madrid with a population of 3 million, 8 universities and three parishes there are many opportunities for church plants. Youth workers are desperately needed.

In the Northern 'triangle' of Bilbao, Opideo, and Aviles there are a million people, two protestant churches and wide openings for youth work amongst younger and older youth.
On the Mediterranean coast, is the ecumenical centre Villa Adelfos, a camping facility that accommodates 60 people. The site is greatly underutilised but is a resource that could be creatively used for youth camps and more.

Youth workers will be parish-based in developing their ministry to students - both secondary and tertiary in the Northern Triangle of Spain.
