Church Planters - Spain

11/7/2008

Duration: Long term
Region: Europe
Country: Spain

Description

Church Planters for Spain

While the Anglican Church in Spain is small, it has a vision to plant a new church every two years, even with its limited resources.

Recently, the Spanish Government granted an amnesty to all illegal immigrants in Spain, which has created a large number of multicultural suburban areas including five satellite cities to the south of Barcelona, ripe for church planting.

In Barcelona, there is only one Anglican Church for a population of 1.6 million with five universities. There is plenty of 'space' for several church plants directed towards migrants, long term Spanish residents and students.

In Madrid, with a higher Anglican presence than Barcelona, the same opportunities for church planting exist.

Another church plant opportunity exists in Cartegena, on the Mediterranean Coast, with a population of 300,000 and one university.

In the southern areas of Cordoba and Malagar, there is also a similar opportunity for church planting.
