Jazz and the Bible - opportunities in France!
2nd December 2009
CMS Missionary Libby Leach writes from Paris:
Recently, we've had two major occasions where we were able to publicly announce the good news of Jesus. The first was the GBU’s annual jazz evening, where we had good numbers – including a good number of non-Christian guests. The talk clearly presented Jesus, and the feedback of some of the students who had dared to bring their friends was encouraging: their friends were much more interested in the topic than their Christian friends would have thought possible!
Then, last week, we had a series of “Veritas Dialogues” in our Paris Bible study groups. These were evenings where two speakers answered the most commonly-asked questions that our friends had put forward about the Christian faith. Four times during the week, the speakers answered the questions “Why does God allow so much suffering in the world?” and “Why did God create humanity?” The speakers did a good job of answering the questions, and there were some non-Christians there to hear them. But the evenings were also very useful for the Christian students who were there: they needed to know the answers to those questions too, and they needed to feel confident in answering their friends.
Please pray for the ongoing work of the Lord in the lives of those non-Christians who have come along, that they may they grasp who Jesus is and turn to him.
