The Diocese of Kindu is in an isolated area, bisected by the huge Congo River. It is still recovering from war and years of trouble. Many roads are impassable and the population suffers from poor nutrition as well as a lack of access to health care and education.

Malcolm Richards is the head of the Diocesan department of Theological Education. This involves teaching in Kindu Bible School and providing ongoing education for church workers. Elizabeth also teaches in the Bible School, and runs trauma healing seminars.
