Brad and Neroli Galvin
It was while studying at Trinity Theological College that Brad was challenged by two Sudanese students about the need for people to teach the Bible in Africa. After much prayer and discussion, we and CMS have become convinced that God is leading us to serve him in Iringa, Tanzania.
About our location
The city of Iringa is situated in the southern highlands of Tanzania. It has a population of 112,000 and is the administrative capital of the region, with many established industries. Iringa is part of the Diocese of Ruaha, which stretches 150 kilometres from the city in every direction.
The centre for all educational activities in the Diocese is Amani Christian Training Centre (CTC). The goal of Amani CTC is to strengthen the spiritual life of the Diocese by training the next generation of church leaders, and building self-reliant churches through vocational training, which includes carpentry, sewing and more recently computing.
What we’ll be doing
We expect to leave Australia in September 2010. After our initial six-month period of learning language and African culture, Brad will begin working as a faculty member at Amani CTC, teaching the Bible and theology in their shorter courses.
Neroli will look for opportunities to minister among the women and children she meets at church and in the community. As well as this, she continues to care for our children. We have three wonderful daughters and are expecting twins in June 2010. We are looking forward to becoming a family of seven and making the necessary adjustments.
We both feel privileged to have benefited from many years of faithful Bible teaching in the churches we have attended and during our time at Trinity Theological College. Just as God’s word continues to mould and shape us, our prayer is that it will do the same for those we serve in Tanzania.
So please become a partner with us in this ministry!
