Alan and Helen Wood

Wusasa

Wusasa is located on the outskirts of Zaria, a northern Nigerian city of about a million people, home to Ahmadu Bello University.

Alan works at St Francis of Assisi Theological College, the only Anglican training institution in the north of Nigeria, serving over 40 of the country’s 160 dioceses. He is one of 15 lecturers (seven full-time and eight part-time), training about 120 students for ordained ministry at certificate, diploma and degree levels. He is also Director of Studies, responsible for academic standards and curriculum development.

Helen is Administrator of St Luke’s Anglican Hospital. The Hospital has 140 staff, and 300 students in the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery. About 80% of the Hospital’s patients and 20% of the students are Muslim.
